What to do now

Stay safe around electrics, note what you see, then request a visit.

1. Keep clear of sparking outlets, burning smells or water near electrical equipment.
2. Shut off the main breaker only if it is safe and you can reach the panel.
3. Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips immediately.
4. Note which rooms are affected and photograph the panel if safe.
5. Send the request form.
6. Contact your insurer or landlord if appropriate.
